​Founded in 2016, Datt Capital is a Melbourne-based Australian focused Long-only Fund Manager. Dismayed by the lack of original thought and diversity in Australian investment products, Emanuel had the vision that strong and sustainable returns could be generated over the medium term by combining diverse return streams and taking advantage of the short term nature of the broader investment community. Datt Capital is focused on generating alpha by structuring its portfolio in a unique and uncorrelated manner, across asset classes. Its investments consist primarily of listed equities and fixed income solely in Australian markets. Datt has achieved solid results since inception, validating its novel investment approach. Datt Capital is an Australian licensed Fund Manager and is owned solely by its team.

WHAT WE DO

​Datt Capital seeks to craft a portfolio that will generate double digit returns in good conditions and significantly outperform when times are tough. We believe in maintaining discipline and investing only when the odds are heavily skewed in our favour. We maintain an active hedge book, which provides us with protection from tail risk events as well as capital to deploy when it is scarce. We are well recognised for our ability to identify and recognise novel business models and "undiscovered gems". The ability to generate returns from multiple asset streams helps to generate robust, uncorrelated and consistent alpha; with superior downside protection.

HOW WE DO IT

​Datt use a ​'mosaic' approach towards idea generation and research including: General Media, Academic literature especially in the scientific and medical realms, Legislative and Regulatory changes, Social Media Networks, Industry and Peer Networks globally, Direct experience and engaging in Primary research. Datt does not utilise Broker research nor generally engage with a businesses management team prior to investing, as it believes in approaching prospective investments free from any bias. It has a broad network of informational sources within Australia and globally. Datt utilises its own database of research covering historical industry and sector structures, past investment evaluations and investment specific checklists. Its due diligence capabilities are extensive utilising a range of skills and contacts to accurately and holistically evaluate the risks involved in any particular investment.
