Frequently Asked Questions

FAQs

What is the difference between Class A and Class B?

The Datt Small Companies Fund has two unit classes. Class A is for wholesale investors and is offered under an Information Memorandum (IM). Class B is for retail investors that invest via a platform, and is offered under a Product Disclosure Statement (PDS). Both classes invest in the same underlying portfolio. To request a copy of the IM, PDS and TMD, contact our Head of Distribution, Daniel Liptak, on 0419 004 524 or at daniel@datt.com.au.

Can I invest without an adviser or a platform?

Yes, if you are a wholesale investor. You can invest directly in the Datt Capital Absolute Return Fund and in Class A of the Datt Small Companies Fund. Either complete the application form attached to the relevant IM, or apply online through Olivia123. You do not need to use a platform such as HUB24 or Netwealth. Class B is available to retail investors only through a platform.

Which platforms offer the funds?

The following platforms offer access to the Absolute Return Fund and the Small Companies Fund (Class A and Class B).

  • FNZ IDPS (SCF Class A): Offers the Small Companies Fund only.
  • HUB24 IDPS: Offers both the Absolute Return Fund and the Small Companies Fund.
  • Mason Stevens IDPS: Offers both the Absolute Return Fund and the Small Companies Fund.
  • Netwealth IDPS: Offers both the Absolute Return Fund and the Small Companies Fund.

Who verifies my application?

The primary risks are key person risk and liquidity risk. The Fund Manager is solely accountable for the Fund's investment decisions. If the Fund Manager is unable to continue, the Fund will be prudently liquidated with investor capital returned. Liquidity risk is mitigated through appropriate position sizing, prudent liquidity management and a strategic allocation to cash.

Am I a wholesale investor?

You are likely to qualify as a wholesale investor under the Corporations Act if any of the following applies:

  • you invest at least $500,000 in the fund;
  • a qualified accountant has certified, within the past two years, that you have net assets of at least $2.5 million or gross income of at least $250,000 in each of the past two financial years; or
  • you are a professional investor, such as an entity holding an Australian financial services licence or one that controls at least $10 million in gross assets.

If you are unsure whether you qualify, speak to your accountant or financial adviser. Fundhost will ask for supporting evidence as part of your application.

Where can I find the Target Market Determination?

Datt Small Companies Fund Class B is a retail product, so it has a Target Market Determination (TMD). The TMD describes the type of investor for whom the fund is likely to be suitable. You can find it by clicking here, or request a copy from Daniel Liptak on 0419 004 524 or at daniel@datt.com.au. Please read it alongside the PDS before investing

If you are unsure whether you qualify, speak to your accountant or financial adviser. Fundhost will ask for supporting evidence as part of your application.
