Our Fund
An Australian small cap fund focused on high-quality companies outside the ASX100, targeting long-term growth through disciplined, research-led investing.
The Datt Small Companies Fund (Class A) is a small companies fund in Australia investing in businesses outside the ASX100 with strong fundamentals and scalable growth potential. The strategy focuses on identifying undervalued companies in Australia that are often less efficiently covered by the broader market.
Unlike passive small cap index funds, the Fund applies concentrated, high conviction portfolio construction driven by independent, bottom-up research. The objective is to generate long-term capital growth by investing in emerging leaders early in their lifecycle.
As of January 2026, the Datt Small Companies Fund (Class A) has achieved:
The Fund seeks to invest in small and micro-cap Australian businesses with the potential to become the blue-chip companies of tomorrow. We focus on scalable business models, founder alignment, and strong balance sheets.
The Fund aims to outperform the S&P/ASX Small Ordinaries Accumulation Index (XSOA) over a rolling five-year period through disciplined, active management. Performance is driven by security selection rather than index replication.
The portfolio typically holds 15 to 25 Australian small cap equities across sectors. Position sizes reflect conviction and risk-adjusted return potential rather than index weights.
Our process relies on original, bottom-up research to assess competitive advantage, capital allocation, industry structure, and valuation. We do not rely on consensus views to construct the portfolio.
"We think that the small cap opportunity is so compelling... The real objective for us is we really want to discover the blue chip companies of tomorrow, today, effectively using the same investment and portfolio management approaches that we've used with our initial fund."
— Emanuel Ajay Datt, Principal.

The Fund invests in Australian small and micro-cap companies outside the ASX100 across multiple sectors. Investment decisions are based on fundamental research and long-term growth potential rather than short-term market momentum.
The Fund invests across the small-cap lifecycle, from emerging disruptors to established compounders. Companies are selected based on: structural growth drivers, sustainable competitive advantages, management quality and capital discipline, and attractive valuation relative to intrinsic value.
This approach allows investors to access special investment opportunities within Australian small companies that may not yet be widely recognised.
The Fund is actively managed and benchmark-aware but not benchmark-driven. It seeks to outperform the small cap index through independent research and selective capital allocation rather than broad market exposure.
The Small Companies Fund (Class A) is available to wholesale and sophisticated investors as defined under Australian law.
The minimum initial investment in the Datt Small Companies Fund is $50,000 for new investors and $5,000 for existing investors. All applicants must be wholesale or sophisticated investors under Australian law, or qualify for a Small Scale Offering exemption if based in Australia or New Zealand.
