Small Companies Fund
The Fund targets companies outside the ASX100 with strong growth potential often overlooked by the market.
The Datt Small Companies Fund focuses on high-quality, undervalued companies outside the ASX100 with strong fundamentals and long-term growth potential. We apply a disciplined, bottom-up research process to identify scalable businesses that are often underappreciated or less efficiently covered by the broader market.
Our objective is to identify and invest in the blue-chip companies of tomorrow, small and micro-cap Australian businesses with the potential for long-term, scalable growth.
We aim to exceed the S&P/ASX Small Ordinaries Accumulation Index (XSOA) by 5% per annum over a rolling five-year period through active, high-conviction investing.
The Fund holds a concentrated portfolio of 15–25 small-cap equities across various industry sectors, selected purely on risk-adjusted return potential.
Our process relies on original, primary research to uncover undervalued companies often missed by the broader investment community.
As at May 2025, the Datt Small Companies Fund has achieved a net return of 59.03% since inception, placing it in the top decile among Australian small-cap funds. The Fund has consistently outperformed the S&P/ASX Small Ordinaries Accumulation Index (XSOA) and comparable strategies in its category.

The Fund is available exclusively to wholesale and sophisticated investors as defined under Australian law. This generally includes individuals with a qualified accountant’s certificate confirming either annual income of $250,000+ for the past two years or net assets of $2.5 million or more.
We invest in small and micro-cap Australian companies across a range of sectors. These businesses typically exhibit founder-led management, capital efficiency, and strong fundamentals, often overlooked by larger institutional funds.
We build a concentrated portfolio of 15 - 25 holdings, focusing on companies where we have a deep, evidence-based understanding of the business model, valuation, and upside potential. We invest across the small-cap lifecycle, from emerging disruptors to mature compounders.
We rely on primary, bottom-up research to assess each company’s fundamentals, industry dynamics, and scalability. This independent approach helps us identify overlooked small-cap opportunities in the Australian market.
The minimum initial investment in the Datt Small Companies Fund is $50,000 for new investors and $5,000 for existing investors. All applicants must be wholesale or sophisticated investors under Australian law, or qualify for a Small Scale Offering exemption if based in Australia or New Zealand.
